Before the First Class (Homework)

Often our dreams are representative of struggles we face in our daily lives. As a result, nightmares we have reflect our own insecurities or fears. This work represents the human fear and apprehension of change through the symbol of a spider, depicting the story through a comic book-like format.

The National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China utilises its form and the area surrounding it to play with light and reflection. As a result of the reflective surfaces of the dome and lake, the dome appears egg shaped as show in the image above whilst also reflecting the colours of the sky throughout the day.

When the fog clears from the valley, you can see all the way across, to the other side, however just before this photo was taken it seemed as though the edge we were standing on was floating in the clouds, and you could barely see a few meters ahead of you.
